Summer Travels: Dallas

Not long after returning from Florida, I was off to Dallas!

This was my 2nd year attending the annual Mary Kay Seminar in Dallas.  It was quite the adventure!  I learned a lot and had a great time.  Here are some highlights . . .

When we arrived at the hotel, they had all these cupcakes, pink lemonade, flavored popcorn, and cookies waiting for just us Mk girls!
Our hotel keys were made just for us.  The room was the nicest, fanciest "regular" hotel room I've ever been in!  Y'all, there was a TV SCREEN inside the bathroom mirror. FANCY, I tell you.
No morning is complete w/o some Starbucks!  This is my sweet friend, Olivia.  She has a heart of gold!
As a new director with Mary Kay, I received this REAL Coach purse for FREE along with a $500 check.  The company is SO good to us!
My friend, Fran.  When this woman smiles, Jesus is all over her.  She wrote me the sweetest note last year, and it hangs in my office.  Any time I feel discouraged, that note is one of my "go-tos" for a smile.  Isn't she cute?!
Lindsay was "Rookie of the Year" in our National Area Awards night.  She's a wonderful person.  We were so excited for her to win!
View from inside the hotel.
Marla, me, Lindsay
Marla and I met last year at Seminar and immediately became friends b/c we had the SAME dress!  She's so fun!  She now lives in Washington, but  I love that we support each other across the miles.

Ready for awards night!

This is my friend, Kristin.  She won one of the TOP awards of the night!
Her dress was gorgeous - made me think of a glammed- up mermaid

Anthony Evans from "The Voice" - MK knows how to entertain!

Todrick Hall!  If you're unfamiliar, he's the brains behind this and this.  He's been on BOTH "American Idol" AND "So You Think You Can Dance".
My future car :)  Pink Cadillac, SRX

Obviously, tons of fun was had by all.  I can't wait to go back next year!

Pin There, Done That: New {to me} Coffee Table

So back in the day {about 5 years ago to be exact} I bought this little beauty over at Target.
It has served me quite well as a coffee table/storage bin ever since.  We recently had a garage sale where we sold everything a few things, but were still left with quite a few items at the end of the day.  I then listed the left-over items on Craigslist, and we were able to get rid of several items that way.

One item that remained unsold, however, was this old coffee table that my husband had.

We'd never used it due to space issues at our old apartment, and he didn't mind the idea of selling it.  But when it didn't sell, I started itching to use it for a project, so that's what led to this new puppy:

It's not quite perfect, but I'm okay with that :)

Perfect drawer for the remotes

It was SO easy!  I just followed this tutorial, and voila!

Materials:
table
scrapbook paper of choice
Mod Podge {matte finish}
spray paint {for the bottom}

Summer Travels:: Florida

After our 1st stop of the summer tour in Savannah, we headed down to Mexico Beach, Florida.  It's next to Wewahitchka.  Right.  Mexico Beach is also about 20 minutes east of Panama City Beach, or, as the cool kids simply put it, PCB.

Adam's family has a tradition of renting a beach house for a week in the summer.  Parents. Aunts. Uncles. Brothers. Sisters. Cousins. Grandparents. Kids.  The works.  It's always a lot of fun.  I was originally initiated into the crew 6 months before we got married, so this was year 4 for me to join the party.  Here are a few keepers from this year . . .
We always have "cousins night out" for the big kids.
This year it included a Watermelon Margarita - delish!
 We were there for July 4th, so here are some shots I got of the fireworks.

Playing with poppers :)

This is literally 15 feet from the end of our driveway.  Beautiful, right?

The house!  We take up every inch!

Smores!  Everybody's favorite.

A stop on the ride home - home made peach ice cream - ah-mazing!

Stay tuned for Part 3:: Dallas!
