Pin There, Done That: New {to me} Coffee Table

So back in the day {about 5 years ago to be exact} I bought this little beauty over at Target.
It has served me quite well as a coffee table/storage bin ever since.  We recently had a garage sale where we sold everything a few things, but were still left with quite a few items at the end of the day.  I then listed the left-over items on Craigslist, and we were able to get rid of several items that way.

One item that remained unsold, however, was this old coffee table that my husband had.

We'd never used it due to space issues at our old apartment, and he didn't mind the idea of selling it.  But when it didn't sell, I started itching to use it for a project, so that's what led to this new puppy:

It's not quite perfect, but I'm okay with that :)

Perfect drawer for the remotes

It was SO easy!  I just followed this tutorial, and voila!

Materials:
table
scrapbook paper of choice
Mod Podge {matte finish}
spray paint {for the bottom}

Hair tales

I have always loved playing with hair.  Mind you, I've never been particularly good at it, but I've always enjoyed it.  It may have something to do with the fact that I didn't have a very girly haircut as a kid.  Thanks, 80s.  I hate you.

Moving on.

My mom isn't very girly, so I was all on my own figuring out how to do my hair growing up.  My favorite tool in elementary school was my crimper.  I know I thought I was as cool as this girl . . .

Unfortunately, I didn't master crimping all the way around my head.  That's right.  I just crimped the front.  It was ground-breaking.  Totally revolutionized the world of hair.  Look out, Vidal.  Give me a break.  I was 9! All I know is that my crimped hair was flawless in my 3rd Grade school picture.

Well, I've come a long way since 3rd grade, thank goodness.  The last year, however, has made the biggest difference.  Why, you ask?  One. Word.

Y'all.  Pinterest makes me look like I know what I'm doing.  It's SO FUN!  I've been on Pinterest for a little over a year, and I decided early on that I wasn't just going to pin stuff, but that I would actually try to do a lot of what I found fun and inspiring.  Here are a few simple looks I've done that were all inspired by styles I found on Pinterest:

Beachy Waves
The Twist
Easy Twist & Pin

Twist on the bangs w/ hair up
Twist on the bangs w/ hair down

Posh Faux Hawk

Fishtail

All of these looks are on my "Frilly and Flirty" board if you want to take a look and try them for yourself :)

Thank God 3rd grade is over.

Happy hair styling!

Pin There, Done That: First Dance Lyrics

Have you all seen this picture floating around Pinterest?

Cute, right?  You simply write the lyrics to the song you first danced to as a married couple on the matte inside the frame.  Easy.

Here's my version ...

Our song was "If Not For You" which is originally Bob Dylan, but we danced to the Derek Webb & Sandra McCracken version.  If you've heard Bob Dylan sing, there's no explanation necessary.  We've since seen Derek & Sandra in concert at Eddie's Attic in Decatur, GA.  We're fans of theirs.  I'm pretty sure they'd be fans of ours if we all knew each other.

Here are the lyrics:

If not for you, babe, I couldn't find the door
Couldn't even see the floor
I'd be sad and blue if not for you.

If not for you, baby, I'd lay awake all night
Wait for the morning light
To shine in through
But it will not be new if not for you.

If not for you, my sky would fall, rain would gather too
Without your love I'd be nowhere at all
I'd be lost if not for you
And you know it's true.

If not for you, my sky would fall, rain would gather too
Without your love I'd be nowhere at all
Oh what would I do if not for you?

If not for you, winter would have no spring
I couldn't hear the robins sing
I just wouldn't have a clue
Anyway it wouldn't ring true if not for you
If not for you, if not for you.

So, what song did you first dance to at your wedding or what song would you like to dance to?  Here's to hoping we all keep dancing through the years...cheers!

Frilly & Flirty:: The Twist!

So I saw this the other day and decided I had to try it ...

My hair is a little shorter, and quite fine, so I secured it with a few bobby pins and some really cute pins with rhinestones on the ends.  All in all, I loved it, and it only took 5 minutes to do!  Check it out ...

The only thing that needs work is hiding the clear band, but I obviously didn't care that much.  Do you have a favorite hairstyle you've found online or on Pinterest?

Tis the Season!

I love the holidays, don't you?

We're moving this Saturday.  I'm super excited about it.  Due to the timing, however, I wasn't able to decorate for Christmas this year.  I just didn't see the use in getting a tree and pulling out all the decor only to take it down two weeks later.  As a result, I have been obsessed with everything holiday-related.  I've been listening to the Christmas station on Pandora relentlessly.  I've stalked friends on Facebook sharing their holiday decorations and ideas.  It's out of control.  Ahhh....next year....

Well, to feed my obsession, here are some of my favorite pins from Pinterest for the holidays.  If I could decorate and have people over, these things would happen....

I can already smell it!

I am definitely making one of these next for next year.

So simple, yet so pretty.

I love the natural greenery.

My grandmother loved chocolate-covered cherries.  We always gave her some as part of her Christmas treat, so this made me think of her.  Plus, it looks insanely delicious, don't you think??

I wish I lived in a house with a dozen mantles.

Apothecary jars are all the rage, and I confess I'd love to own a ridiculous amount of them {to go along with dozen mantles, of course}.
