Summer Travels: Tennessee

Our last stop for the summer was one of my ALL-TIME favorite places to go:  Tennessee!

This wasn't just any visit though.  Months ago I bought tickets for the Gentlemen of the Road tour.  I didn't tell Adam (I used my bday money) and was trying my best to keep it a surprise.  As the weekend for the TN trip got closer, I got nervous b/c it turned out that it was the first weekend after school started for Adam.  I remember well how tiring it is when school starts, so I wasn't sure if Adam would be up for a random trip to TN w/o knowing why we were really going.

The tickets arrived about a week before the show, and the moment I opened the package I was so excited I went ahead and shared them with Adam.  I handed them to him, he looked for about 10 seconds while figuring out what they were, and then we were both insanely excited!

Officially the coolest tickets EVER.

Even though there was no PBR sold, it was a total hipster fest.

They had frames hanging from the trees.  There was also a beautiful "tea party" set up as if you're having tea in the middle of the woods.  The line to have your pic taken was ridiculous, so I opted for the frame.  Also, I'm not sure Adam would have loved to have his picture taken as if he were having tea in the woods...
The main stage.

We went along with our friends, Travis & Shelley.

It was seriously one of the most amazing concerts I've ever seen.  Mumford is a class act.  They played a fantastic mix of the old and new.  I'm not a fan of crowds, but the fans were great.  There was a huge screen to the left of the stage showing all the close-ups, and all the footage was in black and white.  I've heard this is a regular deal for them, but they finished the show by having all the musicians from all the bands that day come out on stage and play/sing "Wagon Wheel" together.  What you may not know is that Bristol (we were on the Virginia side) is next door to Johnson City, which is mentioned in the song, so extra fun.

The concert was on a Saturday, so we had to head home the next morning, but not before a hike up to Carver's Gap.

You will go out in joy
    and be led forth in peace;
the mountains and hills
    will burst into song before you,
and all the trees of the field
    will clap their hands.
Isaiah 55:12

It was such an amazing summer.  As always, thanks for stopping by!

Summer Travels:: Florida

After our 1st stop of the summer tour in Savannah, we headed down to Mexico Beach, Florida.  It's next to Wewahitchka.  Right.  Mexico Beach is also about 20 minutes east of Panama City Beach, or, as the cool kids simply put it, PCB.

Adam's family has a tradition of renting a beach house for a week in the summer.  Parents. Aunts. Uncles. Brothers. Sisters. Cousins. Grandparents. Kids.  The works.  It's always a lot of fun.  I was originally initiated into the crew 6 months before we got married, so this was year 4 for me to join the party.  Here are a few keepers from this year . . .
We always have "cousins night out" for the big kids.
This year it included a Watermelon Margarita - delish!
 We were there for July 4th, so here are some shots I got of the fireworks.

Playing with poppers :)

This is literally 15 feet from the end of our driveway.  Beautiful, right?

The house!  We take up every inch!

Smores!  Everybody's favorite.

A stop on the ride home - home made peach ice cream - ah-mazing!

Stay tuned for Part 3:: Dallas!

Summer Travels:: Savannah

Fall is practically here, so I've got to sneak in these entries before summer is officially over!

This summer was actually pretty busy for us in terms of work, but we managed to sneak in a little traveling.  Stop 1?  Our favorite - Savannah!  My friend, Jaclyn, got married and it was so fun!  Take a look :

Mom and I had a little gno at Lulu's, but not before getting pedicures first.

Let the festivities begin!

My hot date!

It was SO fun!  I didn't even get all the pics I wanted at the wedding and reception, but it will remain one of the most fun and prettiest weddings I've ever been a part of.  Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Jordan!!

Stay tuned for Part 2:: Florida!
